Atlanta punk trio the Coathangers have been forced to cancel the lone Canadian date on their current tour after being robbed last night (August 14) in Portland.
The group were to play Vancouver's Cobalt venue tonight as part of their weekly "Come Friday" event, but a social media blitz from the band earlier today explains that they lost their passports and more when their van was broken into during last night's concert at Portland's Doug Fir Lounge.
"WE GOT ROBBED Y'ALL!" they reported on Twitter, adding on Instagram that they lost "all our personal shit," including their passports.
"We are very very heartbroken because this means we will not be able to make our Vancouver show tonight," they wrote on Instagram, adding insult to injury by noting their van is also facing repairs. "These pathetic mofos blew out the locks on the van as well so we will be drinking wine at the nearest Chevrolet dealer today instead."
If you had any doubts about the heavy drinking, you'll note that the picture up above has Minnie Coathanger (a.k.a. bassist Meredith Franco) looking bummed and clutching a bottle of something red.
So far the band haven't cancelled any additional U.S. dates, so if you live in Vancouver you could presumably head down to Seattle tomorrow to hear them play songs from their recent Suck My Shirt LP, should you be up for a road trip. You'll find the unaffected concert schedule, including a pair of Canadian dates in Montreal and Toronto this October as part of the "Caravan of Stars" tour, down below.
Since Coathangers won't be at the Cobalt for "Come Friday," local band Phoenix Thunderbird, featuring members of Girlfriends and Boyfriends, will be taking their place.
