Circa Survive

"Love Buzz" (Nirvana cover)

The Robotic Empire imprint is once again celebrating the grunged-up back catalogue of Nirvana for Record Store Day. Following previous entries toasting In Utero and Nevermind, the label's latest compilation puts a twist on the Pacific Northwest group's 1989 debut, Bleach. The first tease from Doused in Mud, Soaked in Bleach is post-hardcore unit Circa Survive's take on the tripped-out and cyclical "Love Buzz."

While the song was originally recorded in the late '60s by Dutch rock group Shocking Blue, a generation of rock fans grew up with the distortion-dusted version from Bleach, one of the melodic reprieves from the menacing debut LP. Circa Survive pay tribute to Cobain and co's redo, preserving the eternally wriggly punk rock groove.

You'll find the cover of a cover below, while the rest of Doused in Mud, Soaked in Bleach hits stores April 16 as part of Record Store Day. The comp also features tributes from Beach Slang, Defeater, Mean Jeans, Daughter and more.
