Hailing from Hamilton, ON, it is hard for many to escape the musical osmosis effect that area space rock veterans Sianspheric holds over the city. Chrome Yellow are yet another fine example of their offspring using sailing instead of rocking. However, they have a solid foundation of pop writing skills that are by far stronger than the skeletons of their forefathers. They combine a '50s sensibility of serenading with an obvious influence of being exposed to countless hours of alternative radio's '80s retro night broadcasts, which can never hurt. But what further sets the group apart from many is that they have an interesting way of making a pulsing bass guitar and an ethereal sweeping voice something to compete with what normally goes on during a Sunday morning.
