Veteran grunge yowler Chris Cornell's last solo studio album was 2009's lambasted electronic crossover Scream. Having since reunited with Soundgarden, Cornell is now giving his solo career another go.
His next solo album will be called Higher Truth. Various sources are reporting that it will be out in September, although Cornell's website more vaguely reports that it will be out in "Australian Spring" (that is, between September and November).
In November and December of this year, Cornell will be touring Australia and New Zealand to perform songs from the album "in an unplugged, up close and personal setting." In other words, the tour sounds a bit like the singer's 2011 live release Songbook.
There's no word as to whether this acoustic style will be reflective of the recordings on Higher Truth, which Cornell began working on back in January. But if we're placing bets, we'd be willing to wager that this latest one won't be produced by Timbaland.
Those Aussie/Kiwi dates are Cornell's only currently confirmed shows. See the schedule here, and stay tuned for more details about Higher Truth.
