After 83 years at the corner of Toronto's Bloor and Clinton streets, dance bar and historic music venue Clinton's Tavern unexpectedly closed last week. With its staff out of work and missing wages, Choir! Choir! Choir! have announced their plans to host a benefit concert to raise money in support.

The community choir will perform "Lean on Me" tomorrow (February 25) just east of the shuttered venue at Lee's Palace. The choir is asking for a suggested donation of $10 to aid Clinton's former staff.

News of the closure came Friday (February 21) via Clinton's social media accounts. The cause of the closure remains unclear, but the staff has confirmed that they "have no issues with the landlord," stating that "he's been nothing but helpful and wants to see Clinton's continue on."

Here's what Choir! Choir! Choir! had to say about the upcoming event:

We figured we needed to do something to support of friends and family at Clintons, so this week, we'll be singing a classic that is all about being there for your friends in times of need. All the proceeds from the night will go towards helping the staff of Clintons recoup some of their lost earnings and hopefully help them in the coming weeks as they will definitely need the. support.
