Earlier this year, we noted that not much was known about soulful Belgium-born eccentric the Child of Lov. Sadly, we've now learned that the artist otherwise known as Cole Williams has died due to complications after surgery. He was 26.
The exact cause of death is unconfirmed, but it seems that the Child of Lov had long suffered from poor health.
His manager, Trey Reames, issued the following statement: "On behalf of the family and as his manager I must announce that Martijn Teerlinck, aka Cole Williams, aka The Child of Lov, aka Sun Patzer, is no longer with us. He lived a life of struggle and can now rest peacefully. In his own words: 'When I was younger, I had a tough time physically. I have seen too many hospital beds. It made me stronger. Makes you realize death is always near, for anyone. And what a wonderful thing life is and how grateful we should be.'"
The singer was born in Belgium as Martijn William Zimri Teerlinck, but considered himself Dutch. He split his time between Amsterdam and London. When not going by his musical alias, he was generally known as Cole Williams.
His self-titled debut album, featuring guest appearances from Damon Albarn and DOOM, came out earlier this year through Domino imprint Double Six Records.
