As previously reported, the Child of Lov's self-titled debut drops May 6 through Domino offshoot Double Six Records, but the mysterious funk/rock dabbler is giving us a handful of new tunes for free a week ahead of that release on new mixtape Crying Thunder.
The five-song cycle is exclusive to the tape, and kicks off with the title track's stilted beats, freaky falsetto vocals and an off-the-hinges guitar solo. Elsewhere, wavy R&B slow jam "Lady" sounds like it was recorded 20,000 leagues under the sea, and "Serious" flirts with clanking machine drum beats and sassy alley cat vocal harmonies.
