'The Phoenix' is described as "a celebration of our friend, his talent, and the music"

Grey Daze — the rock project formerly led by the late Chester Bennington — has announced plans for a new album featuring the singer's remastered vocal takes. The Phoenix arrives June 17 via Loma Vista Recordings.

Described by the band as an "essential extension of [Bennington's] storied legacy" and "a celebration of our friend, his talent and the music," the 10-track album features contributions by Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, Filter's Richard Patrick and Bennington's daughters, Lily and Lila Bennington.

The Phoenix is previewed by lead single "Saturation (Strange Love)," which you can hear below.

Speaking of the song, drummer Sean Dowdell said in a statement: "One of the things that people love about him was his unique ability to scream in key… and this song brings you back to everything you love about that scream. You feel that angst and raw emotion he brought to everything he did."

Bennington had quit the band in 1998 to join Linkin Park (then going by Xero, and later, Hybrid Theory) and rejoined prior to his death in July 2017 with plans to release new music. In 2020, the group shared Amends, which was recorded during a "different stage of grief," according to Dowdell.

The band explained they are "back to gratitude" on the forthcoming record, which "captures Chester's angst and energy that people fell in love with."
