Montreal-based DJ and electronic musician CFCF delivers an exclusive mix ideal for at-home chilling. Combining ambient, R&B, '90s pop and rapping on Nightbus Mixtape II, CFCF reworks and beat matches tracks from artists as diverse as Underworld, Notorious B.I.G. and Alicia Keys in ways previously unheard. The elegant mix maintains street credibility while being rooted in blissful, digitally produced sounds. CFCF leads into the mix with the low sounds and saxophones of Vangelis before moving into the mellow, yet arresting, "This City Never Sleeps," by Eurythmics. But it's Jhene Aiko who makes you stop and take notice on the deeply listenable, and moving, "Stranger." This record is like a renaissance of '90s music and Fever Ray's "Keep The Streets Empty" has the kind of cinematic realness representative of the time. Impeccable beat matching between Underworld and rapper Meek Mill, before a very slowed down mash-up of Alicia Keys' "Unthinkable" and the low parts on Autechre's "Lowride," creates freshly unthinkable sounds.
