Cave In Compile Rarities on Anomalies Vol. 1

One year ago, post-rock/once metallic hardcore kingpins Cave In broke a three-year absence with the release of Planets of Old. The four-song EP showed the band return to their heavy roots, stoking the fire for future releases to come. Now, one year later, the band are allegedly at work on a new record. For now, they've announced the release of a rarities compilation.

Cave In are gearing up to compile unreleased and obscure tracks on the upcoming Anomalies Vol. 1 this winter. According to Hydra Head's Facebook page, the album will be out in December, but will likely leak early. They write, "Next new CAVE IN release from Hydra Head is 'Anomalies Vol 1' LP. Looks like a December 14th release date is the plan. but...and this is the tasty part....a pre-release date 'leak' on Black Friday seems probable."

This release will actually be the second in the Anomalies series; Anomalies Vol. 2 was already released in August. That disc contains a live set that the band performed in Italy on October 27, 2003. It can be purchased via Hydra Head's webstore here.

As for Cave In's next proper full-length, Punknews reports that the album is called White Silence and has allegedly been recorded and mixed. No release date is available yet.
