The Haida singer-songwriter's soulful EP is out now via Nettwerk

Hailing from the island of Haida Gwaii off the coast of mainland British Columbia, Indigenous singer-songwriter Carsen Gray pays tribute to precious time spent on the land with her new EP Each Moment, which arrives today as her first Nettwerk release.

The project was assembled throughout the year 2021 by Gray, alongside her husband and producer Joey Stylez. Led by the plaintive single "Someplace," she continued to tease the project with "Colours Like Yours," "Here with Me," "Heaven's Touch" and the title track — the latter's acoustic finger-picking building into a soaring, cinematic chorus that buoys the message at the core of the project: being in the present.

"The driving force is gratitude," the artist said in a statement. "At this point in my life, I'm in a really good place. With COVID-19, I thought about all the things I'm grateful for and what I've been blessed with for my family, for the life I've built and the creative space I have."

Back in 2017, Gray's self-titled debut album garnered national acclaim and she won the title of Best New Artist at SiriusXM's Indigenous Music Awards, which also gave the singer-songwriter's 2018 collaboration with DJ Shub "Wanna See You" the award for Best Radio Single.
