Former Wailin' Jennys member Cara Luft tends to work at a fairly relaxed pace, having released a few widely interspersed solo albums in 2000, 2007 and 2012. Furthermore, she hasn't toured Canada in more than year, but that will change when she hits the road this winter.
The outing is centred entirely on Western Canada. The first gig is in Winnipeg on January 25; after that, all 20 subsequent gigs are in Alberta and British Columbia.
Meanwhile, Luft has apparently been working on songs for a new album.
"I've been doing some co-writing since [2012's] Darlingford, particularly with Edmonton-area songwriter Karla Anderson, UK artist Bella Hardy, and my UK sideman Scott Poley," Luft said in a statement. "A lot of the new material and song ideas are around the theme of home. I've been without a home since Christmas 2012 and it's something I long for. It's interesting to see how that desire has crept into my ideas for songs."
Luft's spent part of 2013 touring in the UK and Europe. See her upcoming schedule below.
