Winnipeg garage-pop duo Cannon Bros. are set to deliver their sophomore record Dream City next week, but before it's officially out, Exclaim! is giving you the chance to stream it in its entirety.
The new 19-song effort follows up the band's 2011 debut, Firecracker/Cloudglow, and compiles a set of songs that take "the Guided By Voices approach." Short, succinct and speedy, the songs still manage to pack in a ton of charged-up, charming, indie-pop punch.
Shimmering guitar hooks and bounce-along beats are met with infectious back-and-forth boy-girl vocals courtesy of best friends and bandmates Cole Woods and Alannah Walker. From jangly opener "Can't Sleep" to bubbly blasts of sound like the title track and "Totally Crushed," and through to closing number "Ghost in the Wind," the two-piece prove that they're a peppy, pop-rockin' force to be reckoned with.
