Cannabis Corpse

The Weeding EP

BY Denise FalzonPublished Dec 30, 2009

What do you get when a group of potheads combine their love for marijuana with crushing old school death metal? You get Cannabis Corpse, the Richmond, VA band that parody Cannibal Corpse with an overarching theme of, that's right, weed. The band feature bassist Philip "Landphil" Hall (Municipal Waste) and his brother Josh "Hallhammer" Hall on drums, as well as vocalist Weedgrinder (Battlemaster) and guitarist Nickropolis (Parasytic). The Weeding EP ― a spoof of Cannibal Corpse's The Bleeding ― is comprised of four new T.H.C.-soaked, brutal tracks that pick up where their previous full-length, Tube of the Reinstated, left off. In its entirety, the EP is menacing, containing numerous face-melting riffs and impressively technical song structures. Although the lyrics are quite hilarious, The Weeding EP is worth a listen even without reading the lyrics or song titles. Cannabis Corpse have proved themselves to be musically brilliant and much more than just a spoof band.
