Cadence Weapon is releasing a memoir. Penned under his real name, Rollie Pemberton, Bedroom Rapper will be out on May 31 through McClelland & Stewart.
In a tweet, Cadence Weapon explained that he wrote Bedroom Rapper at the same time as he recorded his Polaris Music Prize-winning album Parallel World.
According to the official synopsis, the book "[traces] his roots from recording beats in his mom's attic in Edmonton to performing with some of the most recognizable names in rap and electronic music." The book also explores the financial decline of the music industry and the evolution of hip-hop. It features a forward from journalist Gabriel Szatan and is subtitled Cadence Weapon on Hip Hop, Resistance and Surviving the Music Industry.
