The Bros. Landreth Take on Steely Dan, Wings, Lyle Lovett for 'Undercover Bros.' EP

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 9, 2015

Winnipeg roots rockers the Bros. Landreth are ready to follow up 2013's Let It Lie with a project that will hear them tackling classic tunes from artists they admire. A new EP titled Undercover Bros. is being released, with the band rolling out a song per week until November 7.

The collection will feature what the band describe as "songs we wish we wrote," coming from musical veterans like Steely Dan, Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Paul McCartney and Ry Cooder.

"We've always leaned heavily on our influences and wore them on our sleeves," said vocalist/guitarist Joey Landreth in a statement. "We wanted to find a way to say thanks to those whom we have borrowed so much from by recording our renditions of their tunes."

The songs will be curated in a Spotify playlist that gets updated each week, and the first track in the multi-week reveal hears the Bros. Landreth reworking Paul McCartney and Wings' "Let Em In." Exclaim! has got the premiere of the new take on the 1976 Wings at the Speed of Sound classic, and you can give it a listen in the player at the bottom of the page.

Be sure to check back each week until November 7, as the playlist expands to include new tracks. You can also catch the band taking on some of the cover tunes live at their upcoming shows, which can also be found below.

Also, if you have any requests for the Bros. Landreth to cover more songs, you can place your vote over here, where the band have assembled a selection of future cover possibilities.
