Broken Social Scene's Olympic Island Concert Cancelled, Plan Free Show Instead

BY Cam LindsayPublished May 13, 2009

Just a month ago, we wrote about what was sure to be a summer highlight for Toronto concertgoers. Broken Social Scene announced their somewhat annual full-day concert on the city's picturesque Olympic Island, with support coming from the likes of Explosions in the Sky, Thunderheist, Beach House, Apostle of Hustle and Rattlesnake Choir. Well, according to the promoters, the show is no longer a go.

A recent press release announced that the Olympic Island concert has been cancelled, without an official reason, however, refunds can be had at the point of purchase.

Bummer, we know, but there is some good coming out of this. A publicist for the band told Exclaim! that Broken Social Scene are still good for their end for the bargain and have decided to play a free show that day at the city's Harbourfront Centre. An official announcement is expected from the band on their website sometime today (May 13).
