Broken Social Scene have earned the status of indie rock royalty despite long delays between albums. While things have certainly picked up from the camp with the release of Brendan Cannings Something For All Of Us and last years Kevin Drew-helmed Spirit If
, the band have not released a full-fledged Broken Social Scene effort since 2005s self-titled affair.
Still, in a recent interview with Pitchfork, Canning suggested that the band are slowly but surely at work on their next group effort. When asked what was up next for him, he said, "Maybe another Broken Social Scene record [No details] right now, no. If I had some, I would share them, but, like I said, we're just trying to put another show together for a fall tour Yeah, I think we could at least throw in two or three [new ones]. We have some songs that aren't recorded, and whether they make a record or not is anyone's guess. You never really know 'til you sit down, start writing, kind of figure out what shape and size the record is going to come in.
The band have also added another month of dates to their previously announced Something For All Of Us tour. The new leg will include Canadian stops in Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto.
