'Breaking Bad' Star Aaron Paul Gets All Fanboy About Pearl Jam

Published Sep 30, 2016
Aaron Paul is known to most for his run as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, but off screen, the actor is a seemingly much more mellow dude. He recently took to Instagram to document meeting one of his childhood idols and open up about why Pearl Jam's music means so much to him.Paul posted a selfie of himself with frontman Eddie Vedder yesterday (September 29), using the caption space to detail his appreciation for the rocker's music.
Paul recounts buying Ten on his 12th birthday, after collecting change in a sock and counting it up to make the purchase. When he took the album home to play, the family's house was eerily empty — everyone had gone to the hospital for the birth of his sister's child. Vedder's voice rang through the house, keeping Paul company as he celebrated his own birthday, as well as his family's life-changing news.
"So many emotions went thru me on that day and this man was a huge part of that," he wrote. "I love coming of age stories. Goonies, Stand By Me, Wonder Years. Kids just trying to figure it all out. I will never forget the end of that summer. The summer where I turned 12, listening to my first record, alone inside of my house, on my birthday, wondering where the hell everyone was."
