Singer-songwriter Luke Lalonde began his solo endeavour in 2012 with the release of Rhythymnal, but he has been a mainstay of Canadian indie rock for more than a decade as the frontman of Born Ruffians. The outfit released their fourth studio album, RUFF, on October 2, and they're preparing to support it with an extensive international tour. Although the itinerary doesn't list a stop in Toronto, the boys surprised the city with a pop-up event dubbed RUFF GALLERY at Milk Glass Co. in celebration of the new release. Ahead of his appearance at this special event, Lalonde stopped by our office for a session with Exclaim! TV.
This episode sees Lalonde performing RUFF cut "We Made It," but it also demonstrates his abilities as a performer. The stripped-down rendition of the track features nothing but an acoustic guitar and Lalonde's upbeat tenor. Watch the session in the player below.
