Bobby Womack and fans everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief, as it was announced this morning that the 68-year-old soul veteran is cancer free.
He was diagnosed with colon cancer back in March, but has successfully undergone surgery to remove a tumour.
A statement released via the singer's Facebook reads: "We're delighted to announce that Bobby Womack has successfully undergone surgery for suspected colon cancer. A tumour was removed last night which turned out to be cancer free. We wish him all the best in his recovery from the operation. Thank you for all your kind messages and support."
The good news couldn't come at a better time, as Womack prepares to release The Bravest Man in the Universe on June 12 through XL. The LP is Womack's first since 1994 and was produced by Damon Albarn and Richard Russell.
