Following a barrage of confusing reports yesterday afternoon (October 2), Tom Petty was confirmed dead last night at the age of 66.
Tributes to Petty began before the sad news was even confirmed, and now many more from the music community and beyond have offered messages of sympathy and appreciation for the late singer.

Bob Dylan issued a statement about the death of his Traveling Wilburys bandmate to Rolling Stone. It reads: "It's shocking, crushing news. I thought the world of Tom. He was a great performer, full of the light, a friend, and I'll never forget him."

Petty's daughter, AnnaKim Violette, has been sharing photos and memories of her father on Instagram (as well as lashing out at Rolling Stone for reporting her father's death early). See some of her heartbreaking posts below.
