The Birthday Party's 'Junkyard' Gets 30th Anniversary Reissue

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jul 25, 2012

In addition to helping Nick Cave cut his teeth and become the artist we know and love today, Australian post-punk troupe the Birthday Party were also a force to be reckoned with themselves. With that in mind, there's no time like the present to revisit their catalogue of work.

The folks behind the 4AD imprint clearly agree, as they've revealed plans to reissue the band's sophomore album Junkyard. Originally released in 1982, the record cemented the group's now-iconic, often all over the place sound.

Because the release is turning 30 this year, 4AD will reissue Junkyard on both CD and vinyl on August 27.

The vinyl record will come with a bonus seven-inch that features the tracks "Release the Bats" and "Blast Off," while the boring old CD version will include those tracks on the boring old CD.

Check out the tracklisting below.
