Still trying to convince people his name is William Patrick Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience to promote his recent solo album Ogilala. In their chat, Corgan said something even weirder than that time he talked about human shapeshifters — he loves the music of Nickelback.
When Joe Rogan took the easy route and made fun of Alberta's legendary stadium rockers, Corgan responded with praise for Chad Kroeger, saying, "He's an incredible songwriter."
He went on to describe Nickelback as a badass pop group, saying, "I don't know enough about their world, but I don't think there's anything wrong if that's who you want to be. Pop is predicated on satisfying. I've said many times pop is porn. It's porn, they want to get you off. It's just how they're going to get you off. I'm not that concerned with getting you off, I'm just not."
While he might not be calling them his favourite band, there's no doubt that Billy Corgan respects the 'Back. Here's hoping Chad and the boys can tag along on the inevitable Pumpkins reunion tour.
