Best Coast have long been known for their fixation with their home state of California, and they will once again pay tribute to the Golden State with their next album. The record is called California Nights, and it will be out on May 5 through Harvest Records.
While the indie-pop band haven't yet shared all of the details surrounding the new LP, they have unveiled a brief 30-second trailer. It's filled with images of palm trees, barren desserts and purple sunsets, with the whole thing soundtracked by a slow-burning, fuzz-flecked song. We're guessing that this is the title track, since it features frontwoman Bethany Cosentino singing, "California nights make me feel so happy I could die." Watch it below.
It doesn't come as a surprise that Best Coast have a new album on the way, since Cosentino has been talking about it ever since the band released the 2013 mini-album Fade Away. That same year, she told Rolling Stone that they would be recording with producer Butch Walker and that it would sound "really '90s."
Stay tuned for more information about California Nights.
