If you weren't too impressed by Best Coast's foray into mid-tempo balladry on last year's The Only Place, you'll likely be pleased to hear that the California band have returned to noisier sounds for "Fear of My Identity" from this year's Record Store Day 7-inch.
Singer Bethany Cosentino tweeted a link to a minute-long preview of the single, which is sponsored by Clarks Originals. Judging by what we can hear so far, the song pairs distorted guitar chords with bittersweet pop melodies, sounding fairly similar to Best Coast's buzz-worthy early work.
This 7-inch will be in the shops on Record Store Day (April 20). As previously confirmed, it will be preceded by a making-of documentary on March 4.
