Polish black metal band Behemoth pushed their upcoming The Satanist LP from a fall release date into early 2014, but fans will get some sweet, satanic relief late this year when the band issue a 12-inch EP supporting the upcoming set's "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel."
A press release confirms that the EP arrives December 4 via Behemoth/New Aeon Musick and will feature "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel," as well as exclusive non-album track "If I Were Cain" and a cover of Polish post-punk group Siekiera's "Ludzie Wschodu." The vinyl release comes housed in a hand-numbered gatefold sleeve and is being pressed up on both black and white vinyl. The single will also be available digitally, but you can pre-order the vinyl here.
"Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel," as with the rest of The Satanist, was recorded in Poland at Hertz Studio. The band produced the LP alongside Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand, while mixing duties were handled by Matt Hyde (Slayer) and mastered by Ted Jensen (Metallica, AC/DC).
December 4 will also find Behemoth revealing the cover art for The Satanist, which was painted by Russian artist Denis Forkas. The paint apparently included some of Behemoth leader Nergal's blood.
Of The Satanist, Nergal had previously said in a statement:
While our new songs artistically take surprisingly adventurous directions, our message stands steadfast — Proud and Radical. The Satanist stands for undying yearning for liberation and love for freedom in all aspects of life. Considering all our life experiences that often took dramatic curves I couldn't think of more appropriate and fitting statement of who and where we are now.
For now, watch a new teaser video below.
