Beck is pulling a Taylor Swift. The veteran musician said in a keynote interview at SXSW [via Rolling Stone] that he is re-recording some of his hits for a new project.

He revealed that he has been working on new versions of '90s classics like "Loser" and "Where It's At" for a currently unannounced project. It's not clear if he's meticulously rebuilding the songs in order to gain control of the masters, à la Taylor Swift and her full-album remakes, or if he's putting a new spin on the material.

"I think it's a bit arbitrary that you make a record and that's the only version that exists," he said. He also pointed out that his prior recordings continue to inspire new music: "You look back at your work and you see things you want to fix. That's what drives the next album. You constantly try to not evolve but crystallize."

Will we be getting Odelay (Beck's Version) sometime in the future? Only time will tell.
