The Be Good Tanyas Unveil New Material for Career-Spanning 'A Collection (2000-2012)'

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 28, 2012

Last year, Vancouver folk outfit the Be Good Tanyas celebrated their past by reissuing their debut album, 2001's Blue Horse, in expanded form. Now, the group are taking another look back with the career-spanning compilation A Collection (2000-2012), due out July 17 via Nettwerk Records.

Among the 16 songs included here are tracks from each of their three official LPs, along with four previously unreleased cuts. This include new mixes of "Scattered Leaves" and "Song for R," plus the band new tunes "Little Black Bear" and "Gospel Song."

The band haven't released a new album since 2006's Hello Love, and it's unclear whether this compilation signals the end of their recording career or the beginning of a new phase. Following a hiatus, the band returned to performing last year, and this summer will play a limited selection of gigs. See their schedule below.

Tour dates:

6/8-9 Girdwood, AK - Fiddlehead Festival
7/6-8 Courtenay, BC - Vancouver Island Music Festival
7/25 Kingston, ON - Chalmers United Church
7/26 Burnstown, ON - Neat Coffee Shop
7/28-29 Guelph, ON - Hillside Festival
8/10-12 San Francisco, CA - Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival
