Bauhaus were set to kick off their North American tour in Toronto next week, but the band have now cancelled the entire tour as bandleader Peter Murphy has checked into a rehabilitation facility.
While a reason for Murphy's treatment has not been made available, the band shared the news in a statement:
It is with the utmost regret that the Bauhaus performances in North America have been cancelled for the remainder of the year.
Following a string of critically-hailed reunion shows across continents, Peter Murphy will be entering a rehabilitation facility to attend to his health and well-being.
Bauhaus were also set to play New York City, Boston, Detroit, Atlanta and elsewhere. There were no additional Canadian dates on the tour.
In 2019, Murphy suffered a heart attack and while he made a full recovery, the frontman was forced to postpone several performances. As Stereogum points out, Murphy has, in the past, struggled with substance abuse, including meth and alcohol.
In 2018, he was kicked out of his own show by organizers after he began behaving erratically onstage and injured an audience member in the face by throwing bottles into the crowd.
