Battles Announce Vinyl Reissue Campaign
Published Feb 10, 2016While post-rock manipulators Battles continue to plug their semi-recent La Di Da Di with live dates, the band have revealed that a vinyl reissue campaign will bring some hard-to-find treats to turntables later this spring.
After teasing a big announcement earlier this week through social media, Battles have now confirmed that they're bringing the bulk of their catalogue back to vinyl. This includes reissues of 2007's debut disc, Mirrored, 2011's Gloss Drop and the first-ever vinyl edition of their EP C/B EP compilation. All are due April 1 via Warp.
While a CD edition of EP C/B EP had been delivered through Warp in 2006, the collection contains three early EPs that were released in 2004. The collection gathers tracks from the Tras EP that was released on Cold Sweat Records, the B EP that had been issued via Dim Mak, and the EP C release from Monitor Records. The music will now arrive as a double 12-inch, with new artwork from the band's Dave Konopka.
Mirrored was the band's first full-length and is described in a press release as having "dropped amid a golden phase of New York creativity." It featured the single "Atlas," which happened to pop up in a Quicken Loans commercial played during last weekend's Super Bowl.
Gloss Drop from 2011 was the first album from Battles to not feature multi-instrumentalist Tyondai Braxton, who had left the project in 2010. It's described as teeming with "glorious melody and mischievousness."
Battles have a number of European and U.S. dates on the horizon. You''ll find their show schedule over here.
