Epic Games has sold Bandcamp 18 months after acquiring the platform. The game company that owns Fortnite announced the news in a press release today, sharing that they were laying off 16 percent of its employees, divesting from Bandcamp and selling off the majority of youth digital media company SuperAwesome.

Bandcamp's new owner is Songtradr, a B2B music marketing company that facilitates the licensing of music between digital platforms, brands and content creators. According to the licensing company's blog post on the acquisition, it will "continue to operate Bandcamp as a marketplace and music community with an artist-first revenue share." Songtradr declined to comment about how editorial platform Bandcamp Daily, as well as artist revenue shares and user experience, may be affected.

Epic Games will reportedly continue to collaborate with Bandcamp on projects like Fortnite Radio, but likewise declined to comment on the sale. Steve Allison, who is the vice president and general manager of the Epic Games store, said that selling the music platform to Songtradr would "make it easier for independent artists to connect with creators and developers looking to license their music and enable Epic to focus on its core metaverse, games, and tools efforts."

Back in March, Bandcamp's employees unionized as Bandcamp United.
