Bahamas Duets with the Weather Station, Covers Bobby Womack on 'iTunes Session'

Bahamas' tasteful fretwork is particularly impressive in a live environment, so it's good news to learn that the Canadian axe-slinging songwriter has got his own iTunes Session. This six-song EP came out this week through Barchords Inc./Brushfire Records.

Unlike many live sessions, this isn't simply a rehash of album material. It features a pair of covers — "I Must Be in a Good Place Now" by Bobby Charles and "Please Forgive My Heart" by Bobby Womack — plus some non-LP tracks. There are also some new songs; of the six tracks, only "I Got You Babe," from last year's Barchords, has previously appeared on a Bahamas album.

The session finds singer Afie Jurvanen backed by his usual touring band. Tamara Lindeman of the Weather Station is featured on a duet called "Burn as Bright," while saxophonist Liam O'Neill contributes to a couple of tunes.

See the tracklist below and purchase the EP over at iTunes. Watch Bahamas and the Weather Station perform "Burn as Bright" on CTV's Canada AM right here.

Scroll past the tracklist to see Bahamas' rather limited tour schedule. It includes a couple of appearances in Regina, SK, where Jurvanen and co. will be for the Juno Awards this week. Bahamas is nominated for two awards.
