Austrian Death Machine

Total Brutal

I’m not too sure why it took this long for Arnold Schwarzenegger and heavy metal to pair up but by the good graces of As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis, we at last have a Dethklok-ish album dubbed Total Brutal. Essentially this album packs a heavy punch of thrashy metal licks and beats, acting as an homage to one of the greatest action heroes of all time and playing a lot on his humorous lines like "Who Is Your Daddy and What Does He Do?,” as well as his Austrian accent. Total Brutal delivers what its name states and even mocks their music with the track "All Of The Songs Sound The Same.” Lambesis handles guitars, bass, drums, vocals and productions of the entire album, except for the guest guitar solos found on each track. "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers” best represents this album’s approach of heavy, fast and loud music. Also, the guitar solo from Mark McDonald is the pièce de résistance. One qualm is the obvious similarities to As I Lay Dying’s musical style and newest album An Ocean Between Us. Finally, Arnold is getting the respect he deserves from the metal community, much like he got from the Screen Actors Guild after releasing Twins.
