Since 2008, Austin Psych Fest has become a destination festival for lovers of psych music, but this year Vancouver music fans will be able to attend a spinoff event that's a lot closer to home. Levitation Vancouver will run from June 5 to 7.
The festival is presented by Austin Psych Fest along with local promoter Timbre Concerts. As of yet, there isn't much confirmed information, as the venue(s) and ticket prices have't yet been announced and a message on Facebook promises that "lineup and details [are] coming very soon."
As the Vancouver Sun points out, here's one possible hint about a band that might be playing: Black Mountain shared the festival announcement on their own Facebook page, though they have now deleted the post.
Levitation shares its name with an event taking place from May 8 to 10 in Austin, TX. That festival boasts a star-studded lineup with the Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Spiritualized, Primal Scream, the Black Angels, Mac DeMarco, Thee Oh Sees, Lightning Bolt, A Place to Bury Strangers, METZ, White Fence, Ty Segall's band Fuzz, Melody's Echo Chamber and many more.
Stay tuned for more details about Vancouver's instalment of Levitation.
As recently reported, Levitation would take place during the same time as long-running Vancouver festival Music Waste, which takes place June 4 to 7.
