Shelley "Auburn" Campbell is a Vancouver country singer who falls into an odd trap of being not glossy enough for the new country scene, and too traditional for the often-rambunctious alt-country scene. Campbell is old-school, singing odes to diners who serve "coffee that tastes like bacon" and titles like "The Velvet Tears of Elvis." She's a convincing enough singer to evoke a few tears in your beer at a late night booze-can, or have you sobbing in your gravy at a truck stop.
