Swedish metal lifers At the Gates are set to return with a new album called The Nightmare of Being this summer. But today, they've given us a taste of the record with a video for the song "The Paradox."
Of the song, singer Tomas Lindberg said, "Humanity is the biggest paradox. We as humans always want justification for the big things: death, the meaning of life, etc. Our knowledge of being mortals drives us away from being human, hence the paradox. We invent defense mechanisms to protect us from the thought of death, religion, different –isms, etc."
There's nothing very paradoxical about the video, however, which gives us exactly what we'd expect — a bunch of metalheads rocking out and epic shots of nature. Lindberg himself delivers the lyrics without flinching while rocks fall on his head.

The Nightmare of Being will arrive on July 2 via Century Media.
