Metalcore crew As I Lay Dying's story just kept getting stranger last week when an unsigned statement from the band noted a new "radio friendly" project had formed in the wake of AILD singer Tim Lambesis' attempted murder plot on his wife, to which he pled pled guilty in February. While true, a second statement was delivered that same day, noting that Lambesis had written the first letter without his bandmates' knowledge, thus spilling the beans about the new group ahead of time. Now, the new band are formally introducing themselves as Wovenwar.
As previously reported, the outfit features drummer Jordan Mancino, guitarists Phil Sgrosso and Nick Hipa, and bassist Josh Gilbert of As I Lay Dying, with the singer for Wovenwar being Shane Blay, formerly of Oh, Sleep. A press statement notes that the act have been working on new material over the last year with producer Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag), with Colin Richardson currently mixing the proceedings.
A debut album is due to drop via Metal Blade sometime later this summer, but an unfinished version of Wovenwar's "All Rise" will be premiered next Monday (April 21).
Meanwhile, Wovenwar have uploaded a quick teaser of what's to come, apparently an atmospheric blend of hard rock guitar and distorted vocals, and you can see the teaser down below.
As for Lambesis, he is still awaiting sentencing for attempting to hire an undercover cop posing as a hitman to murder his estranged wife, Meggan Lambesis.
