Night one of Kazoo! Fest 2013 kicked off with a spirited set by Toronto two-piece Army Girls. Driven by Andy Smith's tight, raucous drumming, guitarist and vocalist Carmen Elle cuts a charming, alluring figure. Her full, impassioned voice is balanced by playful hair tossing, rock goddess posing, and self-aware crowd interaction and the songs are also a nice mix of punk grit and pop melodies. Fans of Land of Talk should definitely take note of Army Girls.
