Antiseen

The Boys From Brutalsville

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jul 18, 2007

Re-releasing Antiseen’s 2001 return to form is like asking a heroin junkie if they can help you shoot up but not take any for themselves. Raucous and vicious, this group of misogynistic rock’n’rollers blend the confrontational stance of G.G. Allin with the ballsy rhythms of the glorious South’s best blues-rock twangers. However, unlike their long-deceased cohort, these guys seem like more of a danger to you than themselves. Hyped up on copious amounts of speed, they truly are dirtier than dirt and attack with blind aggression on this album. Treated to an accompanying DVD with videos and live footage, as well as extra tracks, The Boys From Brutalsville is groovy and slick despite the basement quality production and sinister, sadistic overtones.
