AntiRacist 15

Standing in Solidarity

Remember VH1's White Rapper Show? If you do, you probably recall Jus Rhyme, the overzealous poster boy for conscious rap. Well, he's back. Now he has an equally righteous sidekick named Raw Potential, and together they form AntiRacist 15. I know what you're thinking: any people — white people especially — who call themselves anti-racist are sort of overcompensating for the realities of prejudice. But it's only half of the feeling of Standing in Solidarity. As one-dimensionally do-good as they can be (we need peace, justice, action, etc.), they have the common sense to switch it up and throw in a few bangers to break the cycle, and the bangers are dope. The conscious side can be dope too, but some tracks, especially the "Call to Action" interludes, are eye-rolling overkill.
