Where Anne hath a will, Anne Hathaway — and the iconic actor is about to enter her pop star era in new A24 film Mother Mary, where she'll start alongside I May Destroy You's Michaela Coel, Deadline reports.
Billed as a "pop melodrama," the feature boasts original music written by superproducer Jack Antonoff and the studio's favourite pop girl Charli XCX (she's also working on A24's Emma Seligman-helmed Bottoms and contributed "Hot Girl" to last summer's Bodies Bodies Bodies). There will also be an original score by Daniel Hart.
Written and directed by David Lowery (The Green Knight), Hathaway is slated to play a fictional musician, with Mother Mary exploring her relationship with a high-profile fashion designer played by Coel.
It might be early days, but it's already sounding like this might be way more deserving of "literally mother" than Meghan Trainor.
