Artfully playing at the edge of the sound art versus music divide, Guillaume Richards debut album starts off as tender, though unsettled, noise, which evolves into hectic beat work and melodic glitchtronica. Whirrs and pops jabber over nostalgic, deconstructing merry-go-round melodies and the chaotic fugue equates to a kind of ambient breakcore. While perfect fodder for glitch-hungry noise lovers and an instant eject for any easy-listening seekers, there is enough artful coherency here to suggest it may one day end up as dinner music for an ADD-fuelled future.
