Split

Chris Colohan voiced his support of the Ancient Shores/Cynarae split LP literally. The Burning Love frontman showed up for some guest yells on the split's second track, "Omen" by Ancient Shores. Even if he hadn't, his musical endeavours would have suggested his backing of this effort and bands, which will clearly appeal to fans of his discography. Ancient Shores tend to stick to Colohan's more recent work, primarily seminal metallic hardcore band Cursed. Occasionally (primarily on "SSDD"), they nod towards his current rock-influenced act, Burning Love. Meanwhile, Cynarae offer no such reprieve, sticking instead to Colohan's earlier work, such as Left For Dead and the Swarm. However, to pigeonhole these bands as simply Colohan-worshippers would be a great disservice. Cynarae bring aboard more crusty powerviolence influences than their Canadian predecessors, while Ancient Shores are a bit more inviting than the Architects of Troubled Sleep. But this split will leave you awake and craving just that — if you can stop listening that is.
