Âme

…Mixing

BY Marinko JarebPublished Mar 22, 2007

Following Jazzanova’s …Mixing compilation, Âme lay down a stellar mixed set focusing on deep techno, electro disco and cosmic house that is laidback, smooth and easy. Âme are German DJ duo Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, known for their hit song "Rej” and for their musical talents as tastemakers for De:Bug and Groove. Âme are in line with the renewed focus of getting deep inside the dance, as opposed to just bangin’. The mix opens with a track by synth pioneer Laurie Spiegel, whose minimalist composition, "Appalachian Grove 1,” was written in the ’70s using the Fortran programming language and sounds just as relevant today as it did futuristic then. Things move onward and upward through an elegant selection that is punctuated by standouts like the groovy "Stand Up” by Nexus, a "Walk a Mile in My Shoes” remix by Henrick Schwarz, featuring the vocals of Robert Owens, and electro disco workout "Baroque” by Chateau Flight. The second instalment of …Mixing is another winner from the Sonar crew.
