A disciple of early electro rap fixtures Spank Rock, Amanda Blank's debut, I Love You, features production from an impressive array of beatsmiths: Spank Rock's XXXChange, TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek and heavy-hitters Diplo and Switch. Blank, a rapper and singer that's guested on mixtapes by Aaron LaCrate and Bangers & Cash, easily rides the unabashedly electronic dance beats, navigating equally brash subject matter with a slightly husky delivery and sultry flow. But she's more Lady Gaga vulgar than Lil Kim vulgar, reeling in the sex talk and braggadocio of "Might Like You Better" ("if we slept together," the line finishes) for the new wave-y "Shame On Me" and pulsating "DJ." Blank doesn't have the charm and originality of contemporaries Santigold, M.I.A. or even Kid Sister but her party raps will serve their intended purpose.
