Alicia Keys

"In Common"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 4, 2016

Alicia Keys has been laying relatively low since the promotional cycle behind 2012's Girl on Fire wrapped, but the singer seems poised to make a bit of a comeback. Before her slot as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this week (May 7), Keys has unveiled a brand new track called "In Common."

The song is a hypnotizing blend of spaced-out synth beats and dancehall rhythms, which provides the backdrop for Keys' commiserative croons of, "If you could love somebody like me, you must be messed up too."

Keys captured our attention by teaming up with Jamie xx, as well as collaborators like Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell, on her last record. The follow-up to Girl on Fire is expected to arrive later this year.
