Experimental Toronto-based electro duo Crystal Castles are calling it a day.
The duo of Alice Glass and Ethan Kath have been fairly idle since releasing the acclaimed LP III two years ago, and this morning (October 8), vocalist Glass took to Twitter to announce her departure from the band.
Announcing, "I am leaving Crystal Castles," she went on to say: "My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others. For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC."
Confirming that no further work would be created under the Crystal Castles moniker, Glass did allude to her plans for the future, ending a string of tweets by saying, "Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles."
The band formed in Toronto back in 2004 and released three records, aptly titled I, II and III.
UPDATE: Despite Glass stating otherwise, the band's manager has suggested the project may continue without her and told the NME, "There will be twists and turns ahead for Crystal Castles, I wouldn't bury the dead just yet!"
