London, ON's the Alcohollys aren't just four pretty faces and a clever name; they're a powerful force of heavy rock, with a sassy, estrogen-driven punk attitude. Featuring Kittie drummer Mercedes Lander (aka Ruby Pubey) and original Kittie bassist Tanya Candler (aka Scarlet Fever), along with vocalist Dana Hartman (aka Kimber Heart) and guitarist Bri Lue-Kim (aka Maiden China), the Alcohollys have unleashed their new two-song EP, demonstrating their skilled musicianship and knack for witty songwriting. "Flashback to '93" starts off with Lander's intense, steady drumming before synth-y keys kick in, slowly building to a sweet melody. Grunge-esque guitar work and harmonious vocals add to the '80s power-pop meets '90s punk rock vibe, with catchy rhythms and cheeky lyrics. "27 Death Riot/Demolition in Speed City" is a faster-paced, hook-driven number featuring more vocal harmonies, switching midway through to slow, groovy riffs that build up to rapid drumming and fiery guitar work. If the Donnas and Hole had a baby, it would be the Alcohollys.
