Aidan Knight Plots Third LP, Shares New Song

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 20, 2015

Sensitive British Columbia songwriter Aidan Knight currently has two albums to his name, and soon he will have a third. Following 2010's Versicolour and 2012's Small Reveal, Knight is now prepping a new LP for a fall release.

While the album doesn't yet have a firm release date or a title, Knight has confirmed that he will be sticking with his label home of Outside Music. The record was produced by Marcus Paquin (Hey Rosetta!, the National) and mixed by Mathieu Parisien (Patrick Watson, Karkwa).

"I wanted to hear the ideas as they took shape, always a difficult goal," Knight said in a statement. "The aim, and end result, is a small collection of songs that really capture what it was like to be in the room with us."

For a taste of the LP, listen to the seven-minute album cut "The Arp" below. It begins as a restrained pop rock number before swelling to a horn-aided crescendo in its middle section. The back half of the track consists of a lengthy jam with dreamy synth tones and aqueous guitar arpeggios.

Tour dates:

06/19 Toronto, ON - The Mod Club (NXNE)
07/17 Crawford, BC - Starbelly Jam Festival
